Producers looking for new a “Black Widow”. Scarlett Johansson may be the latest replacement in the second Iron Man film. Emily Blunt was originally cast as Russian spy Natasha Romanoff but with her commitments to Gulliver’s Travels, Blunt may be unable to fill the role of Black Widow. While Blunt’s representatives are trying to figure a way to fit both movies into her schedule, producers are prepared to move on. According to EW.com, producers have started talking to alternative actresses to take the role, the list being topped by Scarlett Johansson. While Gulliver’s Travels already has a scheduled start date of April 15, Iron Man 2 has neither a shooting script nor a start date. This won’t be the first star to have lost a role in the franchise. Late last year, Terrence Howard was dropped as War Machine Jim Rhodes and replaced with Don Cheadle.
Scarlett Johansson has never been on a diet. The He’s Just Not That Into You actress insists she eats normally and has never visited a gym. “I’ve seen gyms only from the outside. I feel very comfortable with my body,” Johansson said, branding fad diets the “biggest nonsense ever.” “Count me out,” she said of the size-zero bandwagon. “I don’t understand what’s supposed to be sexy there. And besides, I like to eat too much.” Scarlett, 24, also shot down rumors she has had enhancement surgery. “It’s so false. A photo of me as a 14-year-old is juxtaposed with a photo of me at 24,” she said. “Then they’ll say, “Oh, the nose looks different’ Why don’t they say, ‘Oh, did she get new breasts?’”
Romantic comedy He’s Just Not That Into You, which stars Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Aniston, has topped the North American box office. The film, which follows a group of 20 and 30-somethings trying to work out the rules of dating, took $27.5m (£18.6m) in its opening weekend. Based on a best-selling book inspired by Sex and the City, it pushed kidnap thriller Taken into second place. Producers of He’s Just Not that Into You hope the romantic comedy will also benefit from the Valentine’s Day audience next weekend.
Scarlett Johansson is fascinated by men’s nipples. The He’s Just Not That Into You actress can’t understand why boys still have them, adding the concept of male nipples completely baffles her. She is quoted by the Chicago Sun Times newspaper as saying: “The one thing I don’t understand about men is nipples. I don’t know if there is one aspect of men that I don’t understand other than why they have nipples. Honestly, why? I guess it has something to do with the X chromosome. “What is the function of the male nipple? Maybe we all start as androgynous creatures and then they become men?” Despite admitting she is confused by some aspects of the male anatomy, the 24-year-old actress’ bewilderment is not strong enough to turn her off men completely. She recently revealed she is still crazy for her husband Ryan Reynolds – who she married in a secret ceremony last September – adding she is “in love with love”. When asked about the impact marriage has on relationships, Scarlett replied: “I have no perspective on that – you should ask me in 25 years. “I am really in love with love. I’m a lover not a fighter. I’m a real lover.”
Scarlett Johansson, star of the upcoming film He’s Just Not That Into You, is happy to reveal what she loves about Canadians and what makes a great relationship. Just don’t push her for details of her own.
Scarlett Johansson has traded in her signature blond locks for a more subtle shade of brown. Did she make the change for a movie role? Or is the privacy-minded, 24-year-old actress and newlywed (she married Canada’s Ryan Reynolds in the fall) attempting to go unnoticed? “It’s part of being a girl,” Johansson says with a shrug. “We get to change up our thing and confuse everybody.” She certainly befuddles a couple of men in the new ensemble film He’s Just Not That Into You. And she has been doing an excellent job of keeping paparazzi and nosy tabloid reporters off her trail since marrying Reynolds, 32, at a remote spot on Vancouver Island in September. No photos or details of the wedding at the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort near Tofino have made the media – a marvel of covert planning on Johansson’s part in this intrusive age. “I’m such a private person in that sense,” she says unapologetically. “I’m never going to answer any wedding questions.” She will, however, gush about everything else the West Coast has to offer. Scarlett Johansson has claimed that she is a real lover but needs more life experience before knowing the effects of marriage. The actress was speaking ahead of the cinema release of He’s Just Not That Into You, which hits UK screens next Friday. She told The Mirror: “I am really in love with love. I’m a lover, not a fighter. I’m a real lover.” On her secret marriage to Ryan Reynolds last year, the Lost In Translation star said: “I was never in a hurry, I just figured someday I would get married, I guess.” However, she added that she has “no perspective” on how marriage will change her relationship and will have a better idea in 25 years. Johansson was recently named the seventh-most desirable woman of 2009.
Scarlett Johansson has covered Jeff Buckley’s “Last Goodbye” for her latest movie. The actress released an album of Tom Waits covers, Anywhere I Lay My Head, last year and has continued her recording career by contributing Last Goodbye to the soundtrack of He’s Just Not That Into You. You can hear the song here.
Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway has hailed Scarlett Johansson and Beyonce Knowles for projecting healthy body images and being good role models for youngsters. The Devil Wears Prada star was recently criticised for being too skinny, although the 27-year-old insisted that she is a “normal shape”. Anne praised Scarlett, Beyonce and fellow actress Reese Witherspoon for showing off healthy bodies in a world where super-slim is often seen as an ideal. She says, “I don’t think it’s just Hollywood that gives out that message. As a society we put out these unrealistic body images to young women. “But I’m a normal shape and Scarlett Johansson is not a skinny, skinny girl. Beyonce Knowles looks after herself and has a beautiful body. Reese Witherspoon looks great.”
Scarlett Johansson channels Marilyn Monroe in her latest campaign for the new Dolce & Gabbana makeup line. “Scarlett is sure of herself,” designer Stefano Gabbana told WWD. “She’s a beautiful girl, but she’s really easygoing. She is very Dolce & Gabbana.” When describing the makeup line, Stefano added, “We see makeup as another thing for women, like a dress. We worked on the makeup line like we work on a clothing collection — you can change makeup like you can change your clothes, depending on your mood. We wanted to create makeup with a scent. Domenico and I remember when we were children and opened our mother’s handbags — the scent of her lipstick trailed out. I observed that when women open makeup, they smell it first.” Thanks to JustJared for these infos!
Check out the newsstand cover of Scarlett Johansson, star of the movies The Spirit and He’s Just Not That Into You, on the February 2009 cover of Harper’s Bazaar. Here’s what the 24-year-old newlywed actress had to say:
On her engagement to Canuck cutie Ryan Reynolds: “I wasn’t surprised that it was happening, but anyone being presented with a beautiful diamond ring, as a girl, you just squeal with delight. You say you can’t believe it, but of course you really can.”
On cheering on Ryan from the sidelines during the New York City Marathon: “I went to some random spot and saw everybody going past. It was really incredible. I’m a horrible runner; I can barely put one foot in front of the other. I saw that J.Lo did a triathlon and I’m like, Damn, girl, you just had twins! It’s amazing. I’m so not a sporty spice; I’m a stay-at-home-and-veg spice.”
On the press rumors that she’s pregnant: “I got these calls that I was engaged way before it happened. I’ve also been pregnant several times. With, like, sextuplets. That must mean I’ve been eating way too many bagels or something. I’m not pregnant and I’m not going to be anytime soon.”
On her dream role: “Every actor wants to work on a Western. I would run a brothel, like a madam or something. I’m working with what I got. It’s only so long that people are going to want to see me in a corset. So I might as well do it now.” Thanks to JustJared for this summary!
