Reynolds wants his private life kept private

Is it splitsville for Ryan Reynolds and his low-key life? Not if the 32-year-old Canadian can help it, despite the searing spotlight that comes with being married to bombshell Scarlett Johansson. “There’s this weird polarization,” says Reynolds who avoids divulging details of his personal life to journalists. “Part of me shuns the spotlight and is scared of it. And then there’s another part of me that kind of yearns for it, but tries to control it. So that can be a bit of a conundrum, especially when nowadays you have paparazzi stealing garbage out of your house. It’s a whole other world.” Reynolds, who hails from Vancouver, and Johansson, 24, wed in a remote British Columbia retreat in September after announcing their engagement last May. It’s the first marriage for both, although they’ve been in highly-publicized relationships before — including Reynolds’s four-year romance with singer Alanis Morissette; they split up in 2007. “You have to be careful about it,” he says. “I’m reticent to explain too much about my personal life, not because I’m being secretive, but a) because I’m trying to keep it private and there’s a difference, and b) because we know so much about people who are in films now … too much. It’s supply and demand. People want to know so they’ll find out, but I don’t want to know Ben Stiller’s religion or anything. I don’t care. I just want to watch him in a movie.”

Johansson joins ‘Iron Man 2′!

Scarlett Johansson has become the latest big name to join the starry list for the Iron Man sequel. She will play the villainous Black Widow opposite Robert Downey, Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle in the new movie. Johansson’s representative has confirmed the actress signed up on Thursday (March 12), a day after Mickey Rourke joined the cast – he’ll play villain Whiplash in the sequel, according to Daily Variety. The film is scheduled for a May 2010 release.

Johansson: ‘I’m Supposed to be a Gladiatrix’

Scarlett Johansson wants to play a “gladiatrix”. The Vicky Cristina Barcelona star has been tipped to take the lead role in The Amazon Warrior and believes the action-packed part would be “fun”. She said: “I think I’m supposed to be a gladiatrix. These film guys are crazy about gladiatrixes. “But do I fit the Amazon mould? I’m a Danish/Jewish girl from New York. “I’ve never done a full-on action role. I guess I’m still waiting for me Cirque du Soleil moment. It would be fun.” Despite her concerns about her looks for the role, Scarlett has an abundance of unusual skills she thinks would be right for the film. The 24-year-old actress added: “I’ve done weapons training. I’ve fired all kinds of guns – 9mm semi-automatic, machineguns, shotguns. I’ve jumped off a 60ft building. I learnt to ride for The Horse Whisperer.”

Johansson: ‘I Dyed my Hair Out of Boredom’

Scarlett Johansson has revealed why she changed her hair color – because she was “bored” one day. The naturally-blond actress, 24, says she grew tired of her tresses and decided to go dark red because she was stuck at home with nothing to do. “I was bored one day,” Johansson explains. “It was raining and I was with a hairdresser friend and we just decided to color my hair. We experimented with a few shades until we got the right one. I like it. “For a long time I’ve had really white-blond hair. I’m naturally blond – my dad is Danish – and I was playing up to it. I wanted to act out all those famous blond icons – Lauren Bacall, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe. “Ever since I started on the red carpet, my idea of glamor was the Golden Age of Hollywood. I like to be feminine and give people what they want. The hair, the make-up, the gown, the diamonds. That, to me, is glamor.”

Slow updates

As you might discovered, picture updates are rather rare these past weeks. Truth is, I started a new school 3 weeks ago and there’s still a lot to catch up for me. Anyway, I’m trying my best to keep you up-to-date with all things Scarlett ;)

Blunt is out but is Johansson in for Iron Man 2?

The Oscars were full of the “who’s who” of Hollywood and even Iron Man director Jon Favreau took time out from writing Iron Man 2 to walk the red carpet. He spoke to E! about the highly anticipated sequel. According to The Playlist, Favreau said Emily Blunt is officially out as the choice for the Black Widow character due to her obligation to Fox’s Gulliver’s Travels. Favreau, however, did not confirm EW’s casting news that Scarlett Johansson is in talks to take over the role, “On E!’s post show at the red carpet of some party, Jon Favreau said that Fox exercised its ["Gulliver's Travellers"] option on Emily Blunt, and that she definitely won’t be in Iron Man 2. The reporter was chatting with Favreau and asking about what he can tell them about IM2. He said Mickey Rourke isn’t officially cast but that he is a fan. Then she asked about Emily and Favreau said that about Fox exercising their option, which I hadn’t heard before. I thought they were still trying to make it work. He said he was disappointed but didn’t say anything about Scarlett Johansson replacing her or anyone else taking the role.” Thanks to iesb.net for this info!

Johansson Sues US Weekly Over Plastic Surgey Claims

According to TheInsider.com, Scarlett Johansson is mad enough to sue over Us Weekly’s “outrageous and defamatory” plastic surgery allegations. “US Weekly’s cover story regarding Scarlett Johansson and its clear implication that she has had plastic or cosmetic surgery on her nose is an outrageous and defamatory fabrication lacking any conceivable basis or proof, despite vehement denials by Ms. Johansson prior to publication,” reads a statement from her rep. “Not surprisingly, US magazine cannot provide the dates when she supposedly had this surgery, who performed the surgery, or what was supposedly done — all because there simply is no truth to the story. The publication made a pathetic attempt to validate its story by using two cover photos of Scarlett that were taken years apart with obviously different make-up and lighting, and then relying on an “expert’s opinion” (based solely on looking at the two photos) on what “might” have been done. It wasn’t.” “Scarlett has always been straightforward with the press regarding her body image, and she is very concerned that her fans (and perhaps even her employers) will feel mislead. Thus, she feels compelled to take immediate legal action against Us Weekly,” her publicist said in a statement.

Johansson: ‘I want to make another LP’

Scarlett Johansson has revealed that she wants to record a follow-up to her debut album Anywhere I Lay My Head. The actress-singer said that while last year’s effort was made up primarily of Tom Waits covers, she would want her second album to be made up of new material. Johansson told the Daily Record: “I would love to do another CD. I don’t think I’d do another CD of covers though, I’d like to write with somebody. “It would have to be a full project that I could commit to. The process of making the CD impacted on my life far greater than the release – that’s always the way it is.” She added that she would also “love to direct” and would not be able to act forever. Johansson last stepped into the studio to record a cover of Jeff Buckley’s Last Goodbye for the soundtrack of He’s Just Not That Into You, in which she also stars.

Johansson: ‘I’m not like Monroe’

Scarlett Johansson has brushed off comparisons to the late Marilyn Monroe, insisting she shares very little with the screen siren. Johansson was likened to Monroe after an advertising campaign for Dolce & Gabbana was revealed last month, in which the actress poses seductively across silk bedsheets wearing just a corset. But the Lost In Translation star is adamant she wasn’t trying to channel Monroe in the shots. She explains, “We really weren’t trying to recreate any particular image. It was just their idea of the iconic blonde, and naturally people think that’s Marilyn Monroe. “Having said that, I love Marilyn. I think she was incredibly beautiful and a very underrated actress. I am a curvy woman who is blonde, and perhaps we are both comfortable in our femininity, but I think that is as far as the comparison goes.”
