A friend of Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds has claimed that recent rumours of fights between the couple are fabricated. The rumours began when Reynolds failed to turn up to promote new film adaptation of The Green Lantern at the San Diego Comic-Con event, despite his wife attending. Reynolds’s representative told People: “[It] is completely untrue. Warner Brothers never planned to have Green Lantern as part of their panel at this year’s Comic-Con and Ryan is in Europe shooting a film.” A friend of the couple added: “Any reports of a fight are ridiculous.” Johansson and Reynolds married in Canada last year and are rumoured to be thinking of adopting a child.

Ryan Reynolds has begged wife Scarlett Johansson to quit smoking for their anniversary. The Proposal actor is desperate for his 24-year-old wife to give up the smelly habit, and has asked her to do it as a present for him as they celebrate being married for a year. A source said: “Scarlett has sworn to her shining knight she’ll kick nicotine to prove she’s the world’s happiest wife. Now she’s researching hypnosis therapy.” While Scarlett has agreed to kick her bad habit for her spouse, he has not been so forthcoming in agreeing to her requests. Earlier this year, it was claimed Scarlett wanted Ryan to stop riding his motorbike after he was almost involved in an accident. A source said at the time: “She’s petrified a serious accident is just around the corner. When she asked Ryan to give up motorcycling, he flat out refused. And that led to a pretty heavy argument.”

Scarlett Johansson has revealed why she dyed her hair red — to land a movie role! The Lost in Translation actress went from blond to redhead to get the role of the Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and to impress director Jon Favreau. “When I met Jon Favreau the second time I had red hair,” explains Scarlett. “Part of that was me wanting to experiment with my hair color and the other part of that was me kind of hoping that Jon would like the fact that I had experimented and that would help me get the role.” Johansson, 24, recently revealed how she prepared herself for her role as the Black Widow. “I kicked some major butt,” she told People magazine. “It was many, many, hours, days, and months of stunt training and strength training, but it’s fun because I had a goal. The goal was the Lycra catsuit. “You put that much work into something and you put it on and you better be happy with it. “It was crazy to see [the catsuit] for the first time – everything all zipped up and all the weapons in there, bracelets on, the whole look. It was pretty sweet, I have to say,” she explains.

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow is reportedly fuming after seeing the promo pics of her new film Iron Man 2 which mainly features her co-star Scarlett Johansson. The beauty, who plays superhero’s PA Pepper Potts in the sequel, is apparently miffed with the bosses because they are letting Johansson steal her limelight. In fact, the Shakespeare in Love star was found missing as Robert Downey Jr, Mickey Rourke and Johansson posed for publicity shots. “Gwyneth was afraid she’d be upstaged by Scarlett and not being in the campaign was the final straw. She is furious she’s been left out,” the Sun quoted a source as telling a newspaper. However, Gwyneth’s representative has dismissed the reports. He said: “She was not at all upset. The fans will get to see more of Pepper Potts as we get closer to the film’s release next May.” But this is not the first occasion when friction between Gwyneth and Scarlett has emerged. Even while shooting for the film, it was reported that Paltrow had grown tired of Johansson’s demands on set.

Scarlett Johansson will feature in a new advertisement campaign for Mango. Earlier this year, the 24-year-old actress was announced as the replacement for her Vicky Cristina Barcelona co-star Penelope Cruz as the face of the fashion line, People reports. Johansson has teamed up with famed photographer Mario Sorrenti in Los Angeles for the photoshoot, which has been described as showcasing the starlet in “punky ’80s couture”, reminiscent of Blondie singer Debbie Harry. The movie star was also recently confirmed as the spokesperson for Dolce & Gabbana’s new range of makeup.
