Scarlett Johansson has lashed out at “ridiculous” reports she has shed 14 pounds in weight for her role in Iron Man 2 – insisting she couldn’t lose that much if she tried. The 24-year-old star admits she slimmed down to squeeze into a catsuit to play Black Widow in the forthcoming sequel. But Johansson is outraged over reports she went to extreme lengths to lose weight for the part. She tells America’s Glamour magazine, “There was this rumour mill cranking out stories that I had lost 14 pounds – I could never lose 14 pounds. I hate seeing these ridiculous articles where (tabloids) guess someone’s weight.” But the actress admits her fame has made her more self-conscious about her curvy figure. She adds, “I have a tumultuous relationship with it because I love to get ready for the red carpet, but being on it is very uncomfortable. It’s so freakish and weird. I get flop sweats, dry mouth, heart palpitations, allover panic!”
Scarlett Johansson says her marriage to Ryan Reynolds just “happened”. The actress — who tied the knot in a secret ceremony in Canada last year — admits she never really saw herself walking down the aisle. “I never really thought about getting married – it just kind of happened,” Johansson, 25, tells Glamour magazine in its November issue. “It seemed natural, the right thing to do. It was kind of a celebration of the time.” “I think the only difference is that I’m kind of making my own little family now, which is funny,” she adds. “It’s like a little bit of a tribe. You hope that a relationship makes you better, that you learn things about yourself.”
Scarlett Johansson forced herself to get into shape for her role in new movie Iron Man 2 — because she was worried about donning a skin-tight Lycra catsuit. The racy redhead was so terrified she would look stupid in her costume she was determined to lose weight for the role and tone up her curves. “I was so incredibly dedicated because what would be worse than failing — especially failing in a Lycra catsuit,” she said. “I cannot imagine anything more embarrassing so I put my all into it. “I was surprised to find that I could get in shape and kick ass.”
Scarlett Johansson worked out hard for her role as the Black Widow in Iron Man 2 — but she found convincing herself she looked the part harder than training for it. The Hollywood beauty admits she was petrified about locking horns with costars twice her size. “I did a lot of stunt training, weight training and all that stuff for Iron Man,” she said. “It took strength training to try to fit that mold. I wanted to be able to look at something and go, ‘Okay, I’m going to knock the s**t out of that person.’ “To believe that is a challenge in itself, especially when you’re 5?3? and fighting someone who’s seemingly a giant. You have to be able to have conviction in that. That was just as much of a challenge as the actual physical part of it.”
Scarlett Johansson is having trouble turning her head to the left after straining her neck muscles playing the Black Widow in new movie Iron Man 2. The movie beauty injured herself during stunt scenes for the eagerly-awaited action-flick. “I had such a great stunt team who were unbelievably supportive,” she said. “They were like ‘You can do it! Go!’ and you have to believe you can do it and that’s when it works. “I have to say though, I’ll probably never be able to turn my neck to the left again.”
Scarlett Johansson loved starring in her upcoming new flick Iron Man 2 — she’s keeping her fingers crossed producers will ask her to come back in the role in a spin-off movie! The actress — who plays the Black Widow in the Marvel action adventure — loved high-kicking her way on to the big screen in her first action-girl role. “I hope I get to come back and do it again,” she says. “The character certainly comes back. We see that she does in the comics and certainly she is a part of The Avengers. “I don’t know if that is where it’s going to go but she is definitely a big part of The Avengers and she has many different incarnations and different storylines so I’m hoping she will be able to continue in that way. “I’m hoping that if the fans like the character and support the character, we’ll see her again.”
