InStyle magazine recently sat down with Scarlett and husband, Ryan Reynolds, and asked them what they would change about themselves if they could. Johansson replied, “I’d like to be taller. I’m 5-foot-4 on a good day, and a couple extra inches would be nice.” Meanwhile, Ryan replied, “I know this sounds weird, but I wish I were an inch shorter. [He’s 6-foot-2.]” The catch here? The couple – who married in a secret ceremony last September – insist the key to making their relationship work is by banning chats about movie making. Ryan said: “We don’t have a lot of work talk around the house. We both prefer to just be ourselves at home. There’s no competition between us – we just don’t talk about it.”

Scarlett Johannson to Play Bride of Frankenstein?

Scarlett Johansson is set to star in a remake of The Bride of Frankenstein. The 24-year-old blonde bombshell is tipped to portray a sexier version of the terrifying female monster in an updated version of the original 1935 horror movie. A source said: “The Bride of Frankenstein will be young this time. They’re looking for a person with great power and sex appeal. Someone along the lines of Scarlett Johansson or Anne Hathaway.” The wild-haired bride was originally played by English actress Elsa Lanchester. The film follows on from Frankenstein – which sees Dr. Frankenstein bring a “human” to life from separate body parts – and sees the doctor create a partner for the monster. However, when Dr. Frankenstein brings the bride to life, she rejects the monster. Neil Burger – who previously worked on The Illusionist – is set to director the movie and pen the script. Guillermo del Toro recently revealed he is planning to begin work on a new version of Frankenstein, based on Mary Shelley’s novel.

Yorn & Johansson’s duets set for September

This fall, Yorn and actress/singer Scarlett Johansson will release their collaborative album, Break Up. Inspired by Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot’s duet recordings, the 9-track duet album was actually recorded in 2006 but Yorn only recently decided to release it after playing the album for a few friends. The work predates Johansson’s 2008 debut album, Anywhere I Lay My Head, which was comprised of ten Tom Waits covers along with one original tune. Break Up is comprised of eight Yorn originals plus a cover of Big Star’s I Am The Cosmos. The lead single, Relator, is now streaming on the album’s website.

Make-up artist defended Johansson from Dick’s advances

A celebrity make-up artist was once forced to defend a young Scarlett Johansson from the unwelcome advances of comedian Andy Dick – because the star was just 14 when he approached her in a club. Julianne Kaye became close friends with Johansson while working on 1999 movie My Brother The Pig, when the actress was a teenager. Kaye admits she bonded with the young star on the set and took her for nights out in Hollywood. But the make-up artist recalls one venture to a nightclub turned sour when Johansson was approached by Dick, who was unaware the beautiful starlet was so young. Kaye says, “I met Scarlett on My Brother The Pig, a movie she made when she was 14. She stayed at my house for a week. “One night, I put a bindi on her head and we went to a club, and Andy DICk cornered her. “I was like, ‘Get away from her! She’s a child!’”

Scarlett Johansson Goes Barefoot For Charity

This week is the Second Annual Barefoot Week, organized by Soles4Souls, and a host of celebrities are stepping forward to support it. Soles4Souls is an international shoe charity dedicated to providing a free pair of shoes to people in need. This week, the non-profit organization will be distributing thousands of pairs of new shoes in the United States while it also collects “gently worn” shoes from the general public during thousands of concurrent shoe drives at schools, churches and community centers. The campaign is being spearheaded by Scarlett Johansson, who previously donated 2000 pairs of new shoes from her own line of Reebok footwear, and is lending her name to help raise publicity about Barefoot Week. Antawn Jamison, Jessica Simpson, Brittany Snow, Kellie Pickler, Luke Perry, Riddick Bowe, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Chris Hope, Jeff Fisher and Tim Dunn have also voiced their support for the weeklong series of events. “If you can’t dig deep in your pockets, than dig in your closet!“ said Johansson. “Americans can make a huge difference with Soles4Souls by donating shoes. Souls4Soles gives away a pair of shoes every 13 seconds in over 125 countries, with over 55 percent donated to fellow Americans.”

Actress Scarlett Johansson seems to be the new hot property in Hollywood as Spanish fashion giant has roped in the Matchpoint star to be the face of its latest collection. The 24-year-old actress has been shooting a new advertising campaign for Spanish fashion giant Mango. Scarlet is pictured with a short blonde bob wearing a leopard print fur coat in one shot, Daily Mail online reported. In another picture, the actress is seen lounging on a leather coach in tight black jeans, a black skimpy top. She is also snapped slumped against a gritty urban wall wearing a black satin pencil skirt, leopard print top slashed to the waist and a black bra. Scarlet has taken over from her Vicky Christina Barcelona co-star Penelope Cruz to star in the new campaign. “She’s Mango’s ideal urban woman; independent and cosmopolitan,” a spokesman for the fashion house said.

Scarlett Johansson Breaks Up With Pete Yorn

In 2006, singer/songwriter Pete Yorn contacted Scarlett Johansson with the idea to record a duets album in the spirit of Serge Gainsbourg’s 1960s recordings with Brigitte Bardot. “I was having a strange week of insomnia and when I finally passed out, it came to me in a dream,” says Yorn. “I woke up and the whole thing was in my head, fully formed.” Scarlett was intrigued by Yorn’s out-of-the-blue invitation. “It sounded like an interesting little adventure,” she explains. “The idea of two people vocalizing their relationship through duets.” The album Break Up was recorded in producer Sunny Levine’s garage studio and is set for a September 8 release. “I always thought of it as just a small project between friends,” explains Scarlett. “I’ve loved the album ever since I heard it completed.
