According to reports, the couple have been dating for almost a year following Reynolds’ high profile breakup from singer Alanis Morrissette. Ben Widdicombe, who writes the Gatecrasher gossip column for New York Daily News, claims that “a very good source tells me we can soon expect an engagement announcement”. The columnist also states that he’s been informed of the denial by reps for the couple. Despite this, the rumor has spread online, appearing on all major celebrity gossip websites.
